Marvel’s The Punisher is returning to Netflix faster than anticipated—a little over a week from now, actually. The streaming service released a new trailer that announces the premiere date and sets up the major arc of the second (and possibly final?) season, including faces both new and returning-heavily-scarred-and-carrying-vendettas.
Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) seems to be embracing his new villain role as Jigsaw, complete with eerie mask and revenge plot against Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal). The Punisher seems to have a new sidekick in Amy Bendix (Giorgia Wigham), “a street-smart grifter” with “a mysterious past” according to Netflix. In addition to Jigsaw, they’ll be contending with new antagonist John Pilgrim (Josh Stewart), a Christian fundamentalist that Marvel describes as “a man whose calm exterior belies a ruthless interior. Despite having left behind a life of violence, circumstances will force him to use his old skills and bring him into Frank Castle’s world.”
